I am "Mr. M". I teach twelve children, ages 5 through 8, who have speech and language processing difficulties; expressive, receptive, and/or pragmatic language. Some children are on the autism spectrum.

I am a "career-changer." I have multiple subject and education specialist credentials. I am originally from the Great Plains and I have lived in San Francisco since 1979. I love to visit Golden Gate Park and Ocean Beach and to read history and other literature. You can also find me at San Francisco State University where I take classes at night.

I work with two paraprofessionals, Mr. Lam and Mr. Ting. Our major work is oral and written language development and comprehension. Our students learn best in small groups, with strong visual and hands-on components. We teach the district's curriculum, supplemented with other teaching aids and materials. We mainstream our students for recesses, lunch, assemblies, and other all-school activities. Individual students may mainstream in other classrooms as well. Every day we work with letters, words, and sentences to build our communicative and cognitive abilities.
