Hello, my name is Karen Kimura and I have the honor of teaching second grade at George Peabody School. I am originally from Chicago, Illinois, where I attended Chicago Public Schools, K-12. I have a BFA degree from the California College of Arts and Crafts and an MBA from the University of San Francisco. When I decided to become a teacher in 1990 I went to San Francisco State University to obtain my Multiple Subject teaching credential, which I received in 1991. Since then I have been teaching grades K-4, most recently in the Japanese Bilingual Bicultural Program (JBBP) at Rosa Parks School. Before that, I taught for 4 years at Treasure Island School. Prior to teaching, I was a financial analyst at Bank of America. I have completed literacy programs, such as Reading First, California Early Literacy Training (CELL), and Extended Literacy Learning (ExLL). During summer, 2007, I completed an 8-week Science and Math Educators' fellowship at Lockheed Martin Space Systems Co. in Sunnyvale. I hope to use all that I have learned to support our class and our school to achieve the high standards that we all expect from our students, both academically and personally. |
